What to Prepare Before Submitting Your Product

A submission checklist covering product copy, logos, preview images, and the website metadata MkLaunch can import.

What to Prepare Before Submitting Your Product

Before submitting your product, check your own website. Clear copy helps visitors understand it, and standard metadata gives launch platforms information they can import. You can reuse the same basic materials, adjusting them to each platform’s form.

Gather the product essentials

Before opening the MkLaunch submission form, prepare:

  • Product name and public website URL: use a consistent name and a working HTTPS landing page.
  • Short tagline: explain who the product helps and what it does. MkLaunch imports up to 200 characters, so keep it focused.
  • Full description: describe the problem, the main workflow, and a concrete use case. Explain any limitations or pricing visitors need to know.
  • Logo: choose a recognizable square mark that remains clear at small sizes.
  • Preview image: use a readable screenshot or an image that shows the product's purpose. Keep a separate file from the logo.
  • Category and tags: choose the closest match to the product's actual use.

Keep PNG, JPEG, or WebP copies of your images available for manual upload. Check the form for current file limits before uploading.

How MkLaunch reads your website

The form can fetch information from a public website URL. For the name, it prefers og:site_name, then og:title, then the page <title>. For the tagline, it prefers og:description and falls back to the standard meta description.

It also attempts to import og:image as the product thumbnail and retrieve a site icon for the logo. When the relevant services are available, the page content can be used to draft a description and suggest a category and tags. Domain Rating is looked up separately.

Review the imported details before submitting. Page titles can include extra branding, images may not crop well, and an automated summary can miss an important use case. If anything is missing or the import fails, you can enter the copy and upload images yourself.

Give your homepage standard metadata

Put meaningful metadata in the initial HTML <head> of your public landing page. Here is an example to adapt to your own product:

<title>FocusPad — A quiet workspace for daily planning</title>
<meta name="description" content="Plan your day in a simple workspace built for independent makers." />
<meta property="og:site_name" content="FocusPad" />
<meta property="og:title" content="FocusPad — Plan your day with less clutter" />
<meta property="og:description" content="A simple daily planner for independent makers." />
<meta property="og:type" content="website" />
<meta property="og:url" content="https://example.com/" />
<meta property="og:image" content="https://example.com/images/product-preview.png" />
<link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" />
<link rel="icon" type="image/png" sizes="32x32" href="/icons/icon-32.png" />
<link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="/icons/apple-touch-icon.png" />
<link rel="canonical" href="https://example.com/" />

Use an absolute HTTPS URL for the Open Graph image. A 1200 × 630 image is a practical starting point for social previews, not a MkLaunch upload requirement. Keep important content away from the edges so different crops remain readable. The icon should identify the product; the preview image should explain or show it.

Canonical URLs and touch icons are useful to include on your website, though MkLaunch does not necessarily import them. An external favicon service may also still have an older icon cached.

Make the information accessible

Open your homepage and image URLs in a private browser window. Check that they work without a login or session cookie, and that signed URLs have not expired. Ordinary page requests should return your content rather than a challenge page. Include important metadata in the initial HTML instead of relying entirely on client-side JavaScript to add it later.

Next, fetch your website details in the submission form. Review the name and tagline, replace any unsuitable images, and check the suggested description, category, and tags. Open the website link too, so you know where new visitors will land.

For launch options and costs, see the MkLaunch guide and current plans. Complete metadata saves you some typing, but you still need to check the final submission.
